As a native of Wisconsin, she found her way back when she moved to Neenah, WI, in 2008 where she worked with premature and complex newborns. Her clinical focus is the care of chronic childhood medical conditions. As a neonatologist and pediatrician, she has cared for many children with complex and rare disorders. Dr. Azzarello is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and has participated in advocating for children through the AAP. Her professional interest is identifying disparities in receiving health care and advocating for food insecure families. “The reduction of healthcare disparities is a very complex responsibility but taking steps at a local level is a way we can all participate,” says Azzarello, “Reducing the burden of food insecurity for families provides improved nutrition, but also relieves the hard choices some parents need to make for their families.”

Dr. Azzarello is married to Joe Azzarello who is an environmental engineer, a native to Grand Haven, and a graduate of Michigan Tech. Joe showed Dr. Cathy the Keweenaw Peninsula and they decided to relocate to this beautiful area. Together, they have 3 dogs named Chivo, Gus, and Tesla as well as 2 yellow nape Amazon parrots named Otis and Petra. The Azzarello’s are avid gardeners, bee keepers, and enjoy hiking and snowshoeing.
