Dental Hygienist

Number of Hours:  1.0 Full-time

Location:  Calumet, MI

Description:  Provides and promotes dental health support services under supervision. Providing dental prophylaxis; oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of decay and disease; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act.

Required Education, Training, Certification/Licensure and Experience:

  • Post high school vocational/specialized training
  • Certification from a recognized Dental Hygienist program
  • Current or temporary Michigan RDH License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS certification
  • Registered Dental Hygienist, preferred

 

Physical Demands, Working Conditions

  • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 pounds)
  • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients/equipment
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching

 

  • Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
  • Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals
  • Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment
  • May be exposed to biohazardous, radioactive substances
  • Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
  • Handles emergency or crisis situations
  • May perform emergency care
  • Requires judgment/action which could result in death of patient
