Patient Service Representative (Call Center)

Job Number:  SFHC-CL SUPP-901-05

FTE – Part-time (40 hours bi-weekly)

Location:  Gwinn, MI (Sawyer Clinic)

Principles Duties and Responsibilities:  Efficiently and effectively manages a heavy volume of incoming telephone calls. Sorts and directs the calls to the appropriate individuals. Serves as informational representative of clinical departments/divisions. Emphasis will be to facilitate optimal patient access and maximize accuracy of data entry for scheduling and clinical messaging.  Must be highly focused on customer service.

Required Education, Training, Certification/Licensure and Experience:

  • High school graduate and one year clerical experience -OR- one year business/specialized training
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills and the ability to multi-task and set priorities

Preferred

  • Post high school business/specialized training, preferred
  • Medical terminology, preferred
  • 1-2 years in healthcare setting
  • Keyboard experience
  • Ability to file alphabetically and numerically
  • Medical terminology knowledge preferred
  • Calculator, Fax Machine, Personal computer, Photocopier experience
  • Charge care verifier
  • Answer telephone system
  • Communication skills
  • Adaptable to change
  • Enhanced customer service skills

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Travel Requirements

  • Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds)
  • Frequent prolonged standing/walking

  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching
  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
  • Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances

  • Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of blood borne disease
