Billing Practices

Navigating the high cost of health care and related health insurance programs can be confusing. The UGL Business Services Department assists patients with billing questions and issues – allowing you to focus on your health.

UGL’s mission is to provide healthcare to all people in the Upper Great Lakes region regardless of their ability to pay. Representatives in the UGL Billing Office assist in this mission by working with patients that have limited financial resources to work out a payment plan that works best for them.

To send your insurance card to the billing team, please email a copy of both the front and back of the card to billing@uglhealth.org.

Courtesy Billing

UGL files and attempts to collect payment for services from the insurance company as a courtesy to you. However, payment for services received is the responsibility of the patient. Account balances remaining after all anticipated insurance payments have been received will be treated as self-pay accounts.

Patients are encouraged to contact your insurance company to assist in the payment of your account. Often insurance companies will expedite payment if they are contacted by the insured individual.

Affordable Care Program

Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center has an affordable care program to assist our patients with the cost of health care.  We provide assistance with enrolling in affordable health insurance, discounted prescriptions and discounted rates for service.
