IN-SCHOOL WELLNESS SERVICE
The Copper Island Academy School Wellness Program is a collaboration of Upper Great Lakes Family Health and Copper Island Academy supported through funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). With parental/guardian consent, our Registered School Wellness Nurse and Licensed Behavioral Health Provider can provider healthcare conveniently within the Copper Island Academy. This allows for ease of access, fewer disruptions of regular routines and less loss of class time. Our goal is to help improve the health and well-being of all students. Healthy students are better equipped for school success.

WELLNESS SERVICES PROVIDED*
- Screening/nursing assessments
- First aid for minor injuries
- Dispensing over the counter (OTC) medications under medical director standing orders
- Immunization assessment (review of record)
- Chronic care intervention
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Case finding and case management
- Point of care lab testing (upon request) and/or referral to other needed primary care and specialty medical services.
- Behavioral health services upon referral

Hours of Operation
Nursing Services:
Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm
Adolescent Only Hours every Monday from 3:00-3:30pm

Behavioral Health Services:
Hours vary by provider and are subject to change during building closures and school breaks.
After Hours Services
A provider is on-call after hours, on weekends and during holidays. For urgent after hours needs for family practice call (906)372-3025. For after hours needs for OB/GYN or Pediatrics please call (906)483-1000.
