Upper Great Lakes Family Health is pleased to welcome Danielle Hamlin, FNP-C, to our Ontonagon Family Health Center, expanding access to primary care services for patients and families in Ontonagon and surrounding communities.
Danielle earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Suomi College in 2000 as part of the institution’s final nursing class. She later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through Western Governors University in 2023 before pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Cincinnati, graduating in December 2025. She completed her clinical rotations locally with both UP Health System – Portage and Upper Great Lakes Family Health. Danielle is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
With 25 years of experience as a registered nurse, Danielle was inspired to pursue advanced practice after witnessing the challenges patients face in rural and underserved communities, where limited access to primary care and delayed treatment can significantly impact health outcomes.
“While I valued my role as an emergency nurse, I found myself wanting to take on a greater role in clinical decision-making,” Danielle said. “Becoming a nurse practitioner allows me to combine my years of bedside experience with advanced education to diagnose, treat, and manage complex conditions while building long-term relationships with patients.”
At UGL, Danielle provides primary care for patients across the lifespan, from newborns and basic maternity care to adults and older adults. She has a strong interest in chronic disease management and mental health and is passionate about preventive care and patient education, helping patients make sustainable lifestyle changes and improve long-term health outcomes.
“I want patients and their families to know that I’m here to listen and work with them,” Danielle shared. “Your concerns matter, and my goal is for us to make decisions together and build a relationship based on trust. We are a team when it comes to your health.”
Originally from Lake Linden and a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School, Danielle now lives in Laurium and is proud to continue serving the community that helped shape her. She values the close-knit nature of the Copper Country and the opportunity to care for neighbors, families, and multiple generations within the same community.
Outside of work, Danielle enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and children, cheering them on at their sporting events, including hockey, gymnastics, and basketball. She also enjoys watching hockey throughout the year and football in the fall, traveling when she can, cooking and baking, and relaxing at local beaches during the summer.
