Upper Great Lakes Family Health is pleased to welcome Mabel Adams, PA-C, to our Gwinn Family Health Center, expanding access to primary care services for patients and families in Gwinn and surrounding communities.

Mabel earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Minnesota before completing her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), bringing a strong background in nutrition, wellness, and patient education to her role as a provider.

Throughout her training and professional experience, Mabel has worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, emergency medicine, and nutrition counseling. She is especially passionate about caring for underserved communities and helping patients in areas with limited access to healthcare.

“My favorite part of the job is educating patients and answering questions,” Mabel shared. “I like to start with the easy stuff — good sleep, good diet, getting in activity and socializing — because those are the keys to longevity and feeling happy and healthy. I want to build trust with my patients and find simpler solutions for their health together.”

Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, Mabel worked as a clinical dietitian supporting both medically complex children and adults managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and hyperlipidemia. Her background as both a PA and Registered Dietitian allows her to take a collaborative, whole-person approach to patient care.

Originally from Minnesota, Mabel was drawn to the Upper Peninsula after spending years camping in the area during both the summer and winter and falling in love with the region and its outdoor lifestyle.

Outside of work, Mabel enjoys running, backpacking, and singing in choir.
