MARQUETTE, MI – Gregory Jones, MD, has joined the team of family medicine and addiction medicine providers at Upper Great Lakes Marquette Family Health Center (UGL).
Dr. Jones earned his Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science and his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry Degrees from Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan in 2013 and then went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan in 2018. Following this, Dr. Jones completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Utah Department of Family and Preventive Medicine in Salt Lake City, Utah.
After completing his training, Dr. Jones continued into a fellowship in Addiction Medicine at the Utah Department of Psychiatry to gain additional skills and experience in helping patients navigate recovery as well as possible underlying co-occurring psychiatric conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, or depression. In addition to this, Dr. Jones offers primary care services where he enjoys promoting preventive health and wellness for all ages. “I love connecting with my patients, listening and supporting them in their health and healing,” says Dr. Jones.
Dr. Jones became passionate about living in the U.P. while considering places to live and work after his medical training. “Serving as a primary care doctor goes beyond the clinic walls and into the community,” said Dr. Jones, “From the rich history and population, as well as the chance to work with the amazing and dedicated physicians and staff of UGLFHC, I am honored to be joining the continued tradition of serving the community in the U.P.”
Now that Dr. Jones calls the U.P. home, he and his wife, Susie, are taking full advantage of all the amazing outdoor opportunities it has to offer. Dr. Jones enjoys rock and ice climbing, hiking, skiing, and biking. He also enjoys gardening, baking, and playing guitar. A perfect day after work includes watching a sunset and going for an evening swim at the beach with Susie and their fun-loving chocolate lab, Shadow.
